Watch the ‘Revenge’ Video a Mom Made After Her Special Needs Daughter Wasn’t Invited to School Dance (Video)
by Bob Cull
Sixteen
year old Josie Webster was not included when her class planned a formal
dance, she wasn't even told about the event and learned of it on
Facebook. Josie also has Down Syndrome and is one of four special needs
students in her class, none of them were invited to the dance even
though it was billed as a fund raiser for special needs students.
Josie's
mother, Julie was so upset when they found the photos of the rest of
her class dancing and enjoying themselves at the party she had been left
out of that she decided to make a "revenge" video.
The
video was also a celebration of Josie's life, detailing all of the
things she has done and accomplished in spite of her disability. She
has traveled all over, riding river rapids, crawling through the tunnels
left by the Viet Cong in Vietnam, jungle surfing in the Daintree in
Queensland.
She is also a drummer and participates regularly as a dancer at music festivals.
Anyone
who has ever known someone with Down Syndrome knows that they are the
most loving and tolerant people in the world, they hold no malice toward
anyone, even those who treat them badly, they will freely forgive them
for their inappropriate behavior.
Julie
says, "She may not get to dress up and dance but her life is more of a
dance than most. I will continue to dance with her, even if no one else
does."
