State rep. Rick Brattin has helped introduce House Bill 1472 that would force schools to notify parents of upcoming teaching involving evolution. The parents can then decide to pull their kids from the class so they don’t have to learn about the science.
Brattin says that teaching evolution in school is “an absolute infringement on people’s beliefs.” He goes on to say, “Even though what’s being taught is just as much faith and, you know, just as much pulled out of the air as, say, any religion.” Luckily, despite Brattin’s strong argument, the bill failed.
However, neither Brattin nor the Missouri Republicans are going to give up trying to prevent the scientifically proven biological process of evolution from being taught to children. Should science AND religion be kept out of schools?
