Six Cleveland police officers involved in a fatal 2012 car chase, in
which 137 shots were fired and an unarmed black couple were killed, were
fired on Tuesday.
Another six officers involved were disciplined for their actions and a
thirteenth officer is set to retire early. One of the officers, Michael
Brelo, was acquitted of voluntary manslaughter in May for the deaths of
Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams. Additionally, five police
supervisors, all white, have been charged with misdemeanors for failing
to stop the chase. |
