L.A. County sheriff's deputies who made false statements continue to draw paychecks

In an effort to crack down on dishonesty, Los Angeles County
Sheriff Jim McDonnell has gone to court to try to fire several deputies
who have kept their jobs even though the department concluded they made
false statements.The sheriff is challenging a county disciplinary panel that reinstated one deputy who pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of filing a false report, another who admitted initially lying to investigators about whether he tried to take a photograph from under a woman’s skirt and a third deputy whom the panel concluded lied about a jail beating, according to court records.
