About 238 alleged child predators were arrested in Southern California
after a two-month sting by a national task force, the Los Angeles Police
Department said. The effort, dubbed Operation Broken Heart III, cracked
down across the region in April and May. Nationally, a Homeland
Security-led campaign has led to charges against 1,368 people. “The
perpetrators in these cases include entertainers, community leaders,
white-collar professionals, and even members of the clergy,” said John
Reynolds, Homeland Security Investigations Acting Assistant Special
Agent in Charge. |
