House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday
unveiled a Republican alternative to Obamacare. The health-care
agenda—called A Better Way—would repeal the Affordable Care Act but keep
the more popular aspects of the law. Ryan’s plan would, for instance,
allow children to stay on their parents’ insurance coverage until age
26. Paul and other Republicans have been vocal critics of President
Obama’s health-care overhaul since it was implemented in 2010. “This law
cannot be fixed,” a draft of Ryan’s proposal states. “Obamacare has
limited choices for patients, driven up costs for consumers, and buried
employers and health-care providers under thousands of new regulations.”
According to the White House, 20 million more Americans are insured
because of Obamacare. |
