Argentine superstar Lionel Messi announced his retirement from
international soccer after the team’s loss to Chile in the Copa America
final Sunday.
After missing a penalty shot, which gave Chile a win, Messi said after
the game that he was done with soccer and that the national team “is
over” for him. “I’ve done all I can, it hurts not to be a champion,”
Messi said. Sunday’s
Copa America final was the fourth final that Argentina lost. Chile won
4-2 to claim its second Copa victory in a row. Messi, 29, made his debut
with Argentina in 2005. |
