French gay hate group ordered to dissolve after Clement Méric’s death

Prime Minister Jean Marc Ayrault has told violent skinhead homophobic groups they should not exist after the death of an 18-year-old student
An anti-gay fascist hate group is being ordered to dissolve after the death of Clement Méric.
A French extremist gay hate group is being ordered to dissolve after the death of a gay rights activist and student in Paris.
Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has asked the Interior Minister to take steps to ‘immediately’ ban the Revolutionary Nationalist Youth (JNR), the AFP reports.
The JNR is the militant wing of far-right group Third Way, populated by skinheads, homophobes and racists.
It follows the death of Clement Méric, an 18-year-old who fought for marriage equality and against fascism, who was left braindead after an attack by skinheads.
JNR leader Serge Ayoub has denied his members have had anything to do with Méric’s death and has been questioned by the police.
‘That’s absolutely false,’ he said.
Eight people were arrested and five charged for violently attacking the teen, which occurred on 5 June.
The man suspected of having dealt the fatal blow said he did not intend to kill, a police source said. The alleged attacker, who is in his 20s, is a known skinhead.
According to Ayoub, only a young woman named Katia allegedly involved in the attack was said to have admitted to being a member.
A vigil for the murdered teen was attended by thousands of people last week.
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls has vowed to ‘eradicate this kind of violence, which bears the mark of the extreme right.’
It is not the only occurrence of anti-gay violence and protest to happen recently.
During the French Open, a band of topless homoerotic men from Les Hommen held banners and one, with ‘Kids Right’ written in English on his stomach, even fired off a flare and interrupted a match between Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer.
The first same-sex marriage in France took place in Montpellier under tight security on 29 May.
