UK Is Testing Roads That Charge Electric Cars As They Drive

Highways England plans to test this technology over 18 months before a
decision is made to move the project to public roads

Electric cables are buried under the road to generate electromagnetic
fields which are caught by a coil inside the vehicle and
converted into electricity

The government is already committing £500 million over the next five
years to keep Britain at the forefront of this technology
