Brain Trust TEApublican Demands That President Obama Do Something He Already Did

Brain Trust TEApublican Demands That President Obama Do Something He Already Did (Video)

Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace this week to discuss the situation in Ukraine and to further her bona fides as a member of the Tea Party brain trust.
Asked by Wallace what happens now that the nation's Parliament has voted President  Yanukovych out of office and he has refused to step down calling the vote a coup, Ayotte said that it was time for President Obama to act.
"I would say, Chris that they need to focus on forming a unity government," she said.  "Yanukovych needs to step aside, and I will say this, now that the Olympics are over, we need to watch the behavior of the Russians, and I believe the President needs to up his game and send a clear unequivocal public message to Putin not to interfere in what is happening in Ukraine.  To let the Ukrainian people determine their future, to insure that there is no interference in their sovereignty and I think this is an important time for him to do that."
Of course the Olympics are not over, today is the final day, but that is a minor issue, the President already has done what she wants already, he has been calling for a unity government in Ukraine all along.  He and Putin discussed the issue in a phone conversation on Friday which a senior White House official described as very "constructive."
The President urged Putin to assist in the rapid implementation of the agreement reached by the government and top opposition leaders.  Putin and Obama both agree that the deal must be quickly implemented and that both sides must refrain from the violence of recent days.
On Saturday White House Press Secretary Jay Carney issued a statement saying, "We have consistently advocated a de-escalation of violence, constitutional change, a coalition government, and early elections, and today's developments could move us closer to that goal.  The unshakeable principle guiding events must be that the people of Ukraine determine their own future."
Ayotte in typical Tea Party fashion is not about to admit that the President has accomplished anything in the last 4 years saying in response to a question about the mislabeled reset button that then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented to Putin at the beginning of Obama's first term, that he has failed in his relations with Putin and that "it is time to reset the reset."
