Republican South Carolina State Rep. William Chumley turned the
Charleston shooting at a historic black church into a gun debate Tuesday,
when he told CNN that the nine victims who were killed “waited their
turn to be shot.” Chumley said that someone inside could have stopped
the shooting and “we’d have less funerals than we're having.” When asked
to elaborate on whether he meant they should have had guns or tackled
the shooter, Chumley said he didn’t know what could have been done, but
asked, “Why didn’t somebody just do something?" |
