Today
(Wednesday) Another young woman has made allegations against Brig. Gen.
Ofek Buchris after he supposedly harassed her several times. Earlier
today, the first complainant's father has spoken on behalf of his
daughter in a special press conference. The daughter was allegedly
attacked by Buchris four years ago, when she was under his command.
"We
are very surprised and of course support our daughter's version. Our
daughter managed to carry on with her life, and deal with the damage
caused to her, with the assistance of treatment," the father said.
"Our
daughter was happy before she joined the army. A parent who sends his
daughter to the army expects that she will be protected. Now, every
parent will check if Israeli officers have the right moral standards and
are fit to lead the soldiers," he concluded.
By order of IDF
Chief Gadi Eizenkot, Buchris has been suspended from his position as
commander of the IDF's Command and Staff College. He is suspected of
five rape counts and sodomy, and has denied all the allegations against
him, saying there was never any sexual contact between him and the
complainants.
