StudentsFirst rescinds anti-gay lawmaker’s award in response to gay youth’s plea
Jun 05, 2013 10:30 pmFollowing weeks of mounting pressure from LGBT advocacy groups, it was an online campaign initiated by an 11-year-old gay student that finally compelled the education lobbying group StudentsFirst to rescind it's “Education Reformer of the Year” designation awarded to Tenn. state Rep. John Ragan, a proponent of the state's infamous "Don't Say Gay" bill.

Jun 05, 2013 08:00 pmWASHINGTON -- A comprehensive report released Tuesday examines the myriad of hardships and barriers facing LGBT workers in the U.S., from being able to be fired, denied equal benefits and be required to pay thousands of dollars more in taxes simply because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

World’s largest study of children of LGBT parents finds kids are thriving
Jun 05, 2013 07:30 pmMELBOURNE -- The world's largest study on the welfare of children of same-sex parents, currently under way at Melbourne University in Australia, found that children of gay and lesbian are doing as well as, or better than, children of heterosexual parent in a number of key health indicators.

Israeli police arrest three suspects in 2009 shooting at gay youth center
Jun 05, 2013 03:15 pmTEL AVIV -- Israeli police have arrested three suspects in connection with a shooting at Tel-Aviv’s gay youth center that took place in 2009. The three suspects were arrested Wednesday and will appear in court Thursday for a remand hearing.

As I neared the bottom of one stack, I came across a beaten brown manila folder that stopped me dead. Jun 05, 2013 09:00 amOn this day, June 5, in 1981, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta published a report of five cases of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) among previously healthy young men in Los Angeles. All of the men were described as "homosexuals" -- two had died.
