TEApublican Sheriff Joe Arpaio Forces 38 Inmates to Eat Bread and Water Over Damaged American Flags

Good old Wild West Joe Arpaio, Sheriff in Arizona’s Maricopa County and tea-drinking, card-carrying bigot is at it again, this time promising to feed bread and water only to prisoners for defacing the American flags left hanging in their cells.
Arpaio said the prisoners that defaced or destroyed flags would be forced to survive on bread and water for seven days as punishment, a total of 38 people in all. This punishment is being doled out without benefit of due process or trial. The flags were simply left hanging in the cells and whoever resided in that cell is punished regardless of who is responsible for the destruction of the flags.
Arpaio said in defense of his decision, "These inmates have destroyed the American flag that was placed in their cells. Tearing them, writing on them, stepping on them, throwing them in the toilet, trash or wherever they feel." He added, "It’s a disgrace ... this is government property that they are destroying, and we will take action against those who act this way."
Feeding prisoners bread and water has been ruled unconstitutional in several parts of the country but Arpaio got a ruling in his favor regarding "nutraloaf" a nutritionally supplemented bread made of mashed vegetables, grains, syrup and oleo, among other things, partly because the loaf was ruled to be nutritionally sound. No word on who decided oleo and syrup were nutritious.
Arpaio has a history of creating bizarre punishments for prisoners, such as making them sleep in tents outside in 115 degree heat and making them wear pink underwear
