Rampant homophobic campaign sanctioned by Kremlin in 2013 provides unique opportunities for self-promoting while inciting Nazi style hatred and violence. Controversial Russian actor and an Orthodox priest, Ivan Okhlobystin, 47, made violent anti-gay remarks at a “spiritual talks” event in Novosibirsk, Russia, on December 8, 2013 where he said: “I myself would shove all live gays into a furnace.” Sadly, Mr. Okhlobystin fails to remember what the Bible says about tattoos that seems to cover his body heavily.
TVQ1xGJ24o0Aside from being an actor and a Russian Orthodox priest, he also serves as a Creative Director for the major mobile handset retailer “Euroset” (“EuroNetwork”). As expected the owners of this company reacted casually and softly to such rhetoric.
“Ivan expressed his personal opinion, and we will not fire him for that. Of course, we are against burning anyone in furnaces. We have agreed that such statements will not be made anymore”.
Alexander Malis, President of the “Euroset”
Russian LGBT activists called for a boycott of all “Euroset” stores and distributed a modified version of their corporate logo with swastika.
