Rumors
that Green Bay Packer’s quarterback Aaron Rodgers is gay, and was in a
relationship with his personal assistant, are currently setting the Internet
ablaze, Queerty reports.
According
to sources, Rodgers, who won a Super Bowl MVP ring in 2011, was one of the
NFL athletes who planned to come out this summer (but did not). The Fame Driven, a celebrity gossip site, claims they received an
anonymous tip that proves Rodgers is gay.
The
source pointed to several tweets, which are now all deleted, made by Kevin Lanflisi,
who was the quarterback’s personal assistant and Rodgers’ roommate for the last
several years.
The
men apparently broke up after Rodgers agreed, then refused, to be part of the
group of NFL stars to come out as gay this summer. None of the players came out.
Lanflisi then moved out of Rodgers’ home in Wisconsin to California.
"Aaron
has attended numerous sports award shows with Kevin, always color coordinated
and without any double female dates, including the ESPY’s," the source told the
Fame Driven. "Kevin was also the first person Aaron embraced when the Packers
won the Super-bowl in 2011. I just find it really strange that as of late there
has been many bitter subliminal tweets on Kevin Lanflisi’s twitter alluding to a
relationship much deeper than a friendship he had, with who I perceive to be
Aaron Rodgers, because Kevin has NEVER once tweeted about having a girlfriend,
just mainly about the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers, and Justin Bieber’s
music and sitting front row at Bieber’s concert.
"There
has been speculation for years here in Wisconsin that Aaron is gay which I
always brushed off, but after looking at Kevin’s twitter I’m inclined to believe
Aaron and Kevin were more than just roommates/friends, I believe they were
lovers. What do you think?" the source added.
The
Fame Driven has images of a number of tweets made by Lanflisi, including
pictures of the two men together - though none are explicit. There was one
picture, however, of Lanflisi wearing Rodger’s prestigious Super Bowl MVP
ring.
Rodgers
referred to Lanflisi as his roommate in an interview back in 2008 with Sporting News, saying they "hit it off" when Lanflisi
was interning for the Packers.
"He’s
been great for me as far as great conversations outside of football," he said.
"Our friendship goes a lot deeper than what we do."
He
also told
MilwaukeeMag that he based his
friendships with celebrities on their acceptance of Lanflisi.
"I
kind of judge how those people are based on how they are to people like Kevin,"
Rodgers said. "Kevin, he’s not a famous person. I want to see if they give Kevin
the time of day, or if they big-time him."
In
April, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo said
up to four NFL players may come out as gay, adding he and LGBT organizations
"are just trying to facilitate them so they can have a support group amongst
each other."
