What’s going on in the world? Well, in Bangladesh a woman who was moments away from becoming the next rape victim, acted quickly and cut off a man’s penis in self-defense. After removing the man’s member, she took it straight to the police as evidence of the assault.

According to Opposingviews.com, Monju Begum, 40, claims that the man, identified as Mozammel Haq Mazi, forced himself into her home while she was sleeping and attempted to rape her.

"As he tried to rape her, the lady cut his penis off with a knife," explained police chief Abul Khaer. “She then wrapped up the penis in a piece of polythene and brought it to the Jhalakathi police station as evidence of the crime. It is quite an unusual incident. As far as I am aware, this is the first time that a woman has brought a severed penis to the police station as evidence."

Begum, claims that Mazi had been harassing her for months, but Mazi begs to differ.

“I am a double victim,” Mazi claimed, according to the BBC. “First, she cut my penis and now police say they are going to arrest me for attempted rape. We were having an affair and recently she suggested that both of us can go and settle down in Dhaka. I refused and told her that I cannot leave my wife and children, so she took revenge on me."

Mazi already has a case of attempted rape against Begum, according to the BBC, although Mazi has yet to be arrested. He is being treated for his injuries and police intend to arrest the man after his recovery. According to the doctors, Mazi’s penis is unable to be reattached and they are concentrating on new methods to allow the man to urinate without it.
