LGBT veterans face discrimination when seeking home loans, senator says
The
Department of Veterans Affairs has been slow to update its policies on
home-loan eligibility in light of the Supreme Court decision earlier
this year that struck down parts of the Defense of Marriage Act,
according to Sen. Mark Warner D-Va., who addressed the issue in a letter
to the White House last week. "This discriminatory treatment in
[Veterans Affairs] VA loans disrespects our service members, military
veterans and their families," Warner wrote.
